Solution Engineer - Acorn International
Job Description:
The Acorn Solution Engineer provides business, functional and technical expertise regarding all aspects of an Acorn engagement, whether it is services only or services and software. The successful candidate must be able to quickly understand and assess our clients' business issues and requirements, understand all aspects of our best practices costing/profit improvement methodologies, master our implementation/engagement process and software, and be skilled at presenting our solution and business/functional fit to prospects. He/She will be expected to discuss business needs and provide recommendations to high level executives, while providing engagement overviews and software demonstrations of Acorn’s solution.
It is imperative that the candidate have the leadership and communication skills to demonstrate value in order for the client to move forward in a business relationship with Acorn.
You will have the opportunity to work with many companies and partners of all sizes, in many different and exciting industries, in many diverse geographies. You will have the opportunity to develop an in-depth understanding of key performance indicators and operational factors as well as their effect on the profitability of our client companies.
Qualifications:
• Knowledge of cost accounting, Activity Based Costing/Management, Profitability Modeling and Optimization, and business process modeling is a requirement.
• An understanding of current technology and its application. Technical familiarity with Microsoft SQL Server 2005/2008 and other relevant core technologies (e.g., SharePoint, Windows Server, Business Scorecard Manager, etc.).
• Experience or deep familiarity in financial applications, ERP implementations, BI solutions or CPM.
• Excellent verbal, written, presentation and English communication skills are required.
• Must have excellent problem solving and analytical skills as well as attention to detail.
• Ability to take direction and work as part of a global team, and learn and work autonomously with minimal direction.
• Must be willing to travel 50% or more, including work in the Latin America, Europe-Middle East-and Africa (EMEA), and Asia-Pacific regions.
• Degree/Major: BA in Accounting/Finance or BS in Computer Science or Information Systems. Additionally, a MBA is preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of related experience is required. Previous experience either inside an end-user-customer with a costing-profitability management system, or as a practitioner in this space, is a big plus.

Quality Assurance Engineer
Department: Research & Development
Location: Houston, TX
Reports To: Quality Assurance Manager/Lead
Effective Date: April 30/2009
Purpose
Develops and implements test scripts for complex, multi-version, distributed, applications in an Agile environment. Works on all EPS applications, including new and in
production. Potential to write and maintain test automation in Test Complete or other automation tools. Reports on test results. Contributes to the development of quality assurance standards.
Essential Duties
- Quality Assurance -
Develops automated testing systems using commercial tools, scripts and data set.
Understand the Agile process.
Works directly with appropriate Acorn personnel to understand project concept, objectives and approach of software development.
Able to work closely with developers spanning an international development team.
- Testing -
Participate in all aspects of testing, including functional, regression, load and system testing.
Responsible for successful testing.
Assures the appropriate level of quality by the resolution of important defects by working with developers to ensure the software development has an appropriate level of testing.
Creates effective manual and automated test scripts, in a variety of toolsets.
Works collaboratively with development during all aspects of development to provide in-process testing results.
Validate new functions and applications, and identify issues in software.
Records and reports testing status/results.
Track and report defects using Rally.
Other Duties
Other duties as assigned.
Supervision
Works under the general supervision of the QA Manager/Lead. This position does not supervise other personnel.

Work Experience
Demonstrated ability to work well with developers.
At least five years minimum of software test experience.
At least five years experience testing multiple software projects simultaneously.
At least two years experience working with agile methodology and software test experience.
Experienced user of automated testing and defect tracking applications.
Experienced user of SQL.
Experience creating scripts for automating processes.
Knowledge and understanding of Agile.
Familiar with SQL Server and Microsoft environments.
Experience in all types of testing.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience.
Licenses or Designations
None required.
Working Conditions
- Physical Work Demands -
Able to sit and work at a computer keyboard for extended periods of time.
Able to stoop, kneel, bend at the waist and reach on a daily basis.
Able to perform general office administrative activities.
Able to lift and move up to 15 pounds occasionally.
- Mental Work Demands -
Regular and on-time attendance.
Must be able to prioritized, schedule and complete testing required for multiple applications with overlapping schedules.
A certain degree of creativity and flexibility is required.
Hours may exceed 40 hours per week.
