Acorn Systems Names New Chief Executive

Leading profit management software company taps Leland Putterman, former BMC and Orale executive, to lead strategic growth efforts into enterprise space

Houston, TX — September 10, 2001 — Acorn Systems, providers of Enterprise Profit Optimization software, announced today the appointment of Leland Putterman as their new CEO. As the incoming Chief Executive, Putterman says he will work to focus the company on its strategic vision and expand Acorn during this major growth period.

“I am excited about the opportunity to lead an organization that has a proven technology that immediately impacts the bottom line for our clients,” said Putterman. “I am particularly optimistic, given our current customers’ success with our product, that we can scale our distribution to meet the needs of significantly more companies in the coming years. Our greatest value that I hope to expand upon is that we help our customers determine where they are making and losing money and then turn that knowledge into improved profits.”

Prior to Acorn, Putterman served as an Executive Officer and VP of global marketing for BMC Software where he was responsible for worldwide marketing operations and commanded a division of about 300 employees. Putterman served a key role in BMC’s transition from a mainframe product vendor to an enterprise software company.

Putterman also held various senior management positions in his 9-year tenure at Oracle, departing as the VP of Product Marketing. While at Oracle, Putterman launched Oracle Energy, a multi-million dollar division focusing on the upstream sector of the energy industry. Before Oracle, Putterman spent 3 years at IBM where he held various sales positions. Putterman graduated from Princeton University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics.

“Leland has an incredible amount of experience in the software industry, and we are certain that he will lead Acorn to the next level,” said Steve Anderson, founder of Acorn Systems.

In the year and a half since Acorn Systems released its enterprise software product, it has quickly become a solid software firm with over 150 customers. The company, co-headquartered in Houston and Philadelphia, has strategic relationships with industry leaders such as Deloitte & Touche, as well as Techsys, Inc.
