How is Acorn’s solution superior to Oracle’s offerings for costing and profitability?
Oracle and its acquired companies, including Peoplesoft and Hyperion, have yielded over 4 costing and profitability offerings, including Oracle ABM, PeopleSoft EPM ABM, and Hyperion Business Modeler. These must not work for today’s customer environments because Oracle announced a new, untested offering in Q3 2008, the Oracle Hyperion Profitability and Cost Management Software.
Why is Acorn superior to this brand new offering by Oracle?
1. Oracle’s offering does not perform "bottoms-up" or transaction level costing and profitability analysis. Rather, Oracle drives a "top-down" approach for costing and profitability. Nor does Oracle’s solution truly scale to your enterprise at a granular level of analysis. If you want transaction, order, account, customer, or product level analysis, Oracle’s solution can’t help – Acorn’s can.
2. Oracle’s offering does not provide an unlimited number of dimensions for costing and profitability analysis in a single unified model – such as account, customer, customer segment, channel, org, etc. You are limited to a few.
