Acorn Software Solutions: Utilities
Acorn utilities applications are pre-packaged software solutions that make it easier to transfer, manage, load and extract data from our core platform and targeted applications. While these utility applications are not necessary when implementing an Acorn solution, our clients have said it’s worth the investment. They state that Acorn utilities are more cost and resource effective than trying to achieve the same objectives internally.

Acorn Universal Connector
Acorn Universal Connector (AUC) allows users to import data from various disparate sources into system generated staging tables reflecting your Acorn EPS Model. Predefined and structured staging tables are automatically generated from the Acorn EPS Application upon model completion. General ledger, department drivers, and cost object instances are automatically loaded upon model execution. AUC monitors ongoing changes to the Acorn model and subsequently updates all staging tables’ schemas to ensure consistent table design. AUC also includes over 16 best practice validation scripts and is easily customer defined. Validation script examples include but are not limited to null values, general ledger facility location checks, general ledger account types, duplicate department driver names, and cost object structure relationships.

Acorn Advanced Analytics (AAA)
Acorn Advanced Analytics (AAA) is an easy-to-use, menu-driven application that links Acorn’s calculated results to a company’s business intelligence (BI) infrastructure. Multidimensional results are readily available via drop-down menus and are configured to meet your reporting needs. AAA is designed to work with any Acorn cost or profitability model and uses Acorn metadata to determine the reporting structure, dimensions, hierarchies and measures. By reading the dimensional data (drivers and results that have already been extracted, transformed and loaded into the Acorn repository), AAA can save weeks to months over traditional build-it-yourself BI custom implementations. The solution is supported and enhanced by Acorn, the provider of your costing and profitability modeling application.
Acorn Advanced Analytics is divided into two separate modules: AAA Universal Edition and AAA BI Connector. The Universal Edition creates fact and dimension tables from the Acorn Performance Analyzer® results platform. The BI Connector takes the Acorn tables and generates cubes for your BI platform (MSFT, Cognos, SAP, Oracle, or Other). The resulting multidimensional data source is available to any BI reporting solution that can read a defined fact table.

Acorn Power Plug-Ins for Excel
Acorn Power Plug-ins for Excel enable end-users to leverage Microsoft Excel functionality and familiarity for model maintenance and reporting. These capabilities leverage enhanced Excel 2007 functionality, allowing the user to use the new features and functions such as charting and equations.
Three Plug-Ins for Three Different Purposes
• Acorn Power Modeler for Excel – Use the Excel interface to easily build and maintain model structure and components
• Acorn Data Connector for Excel – Retrieve, manipulate and input time period data through the bulk interface of Microsoft Excel
• Acorn Power Reporting for Excel – Retrieve calculated model results in Excel Spreadsheet format, then utilize Excel reporting and functions to report the output
Additional Application Features
• Interacts with model data and results both on-line and off-line from EPS Server Applications
• Performs bulk load and edits to new and existing financial and operational data
• Highly flexible reporting options available via Acorn Reporting Templates, Excel Reporting Functionality and End User Defined Reporting
